Punjab WASA launches energy-saving plan with solar, smart systems

Muhammad Muzamil Awan : Faisalabad: Punjab Water and Sanitation Authority has initiated a comprehensive energy-saving plan, with Faisalabad among 10 WASA units included in the first phase. A delegation from GIZ Pakistan visited WASA Faisalabad to review the Energy Management Readiness Assessment Plan and assess infrastructure and operational systems. Officials discussed real-time energy monitoring, SCADA systems at disposal stations, and operational efficiencies in water distribution. The delegation also reviewed solarization efforts across multiple units, which have already reduced energy costs significantly. Authorities emphasized that adopting structured energy management systems will ensure improved water supply services while minimizing operational expenses and promoting sustainable practices.
