Punjab announces Rs23bn development plan for Katcha areas

Punjab: Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif has announced a comprehensive Rs23 billion development package for Katcha areas, focusing on infrastructure, security, and social uplift. The initiative includes construction of schools, hospitals, roads, and bridges, along with provision of transport services and mobile clinics. Under the “Apna Khet, Apna Rozgar” scheme, 14,500 acres of state land will be allocated to local residents to promote economic activity. Authorities also plan to introduce drone surveillance powered by solar energy, along with advanced monitoring systems in police stations and check posts to strengthen law enforcement. Officials stated that the program aims to improve living standards, ensure security, and bring long-term development to previously neglected regions.
