Lahore: The Punjab Revenue Authority continued action against businesses accused of failing to pay collected taxes and hiding sales records. According to the authority’s spokesperson, three business premises, including a hotel, were sealed during checks in Lahore and other Punjab cities. Dozens of food outlets and aesthetic clinics were also issued notices for not using POS billing machines. A POS machine records sales digitally and sends invoice information to the tax system. PRA said businesses must deposit taxes collected from customers into the provincial treasury on time. The authority is using digital monitoring to check sales and tax payments. The names of the sealed businesses, their unpaid amounts and the deadline given to businesses receiving notices were not disclosed.
