Federal Petroleum Minister Ali Pervaiz Malik Sets Targets for Oil Reforms

Islamabad: Federal Minister for Petroleum Ali Pervaiz Malik chaired the fifth meeting of the committee formed by the prime minister to review Pakistan’s petroleum pricing system. He directed officials to prepare a clear, step-by-step plan with measurable targets for gradually reducing government control over the oil market. Committee members reviewed reports on fuel pricing, regional tax systems, strategic petroleum reserves and a proposed fund to control sudden price changes. Officials said OGRA’s online dashboard is now providing daily petroleum prices, the pricing formula and related market data. The minister also called for complete digital tracking of fuel from oil companies to the final point of sale. No final deregulation plan, new fuel price or implementation deadline was approved during the meeting.
