Lahore: Inspector General of Police Punjab Rao Abdul Kareem directed traffic police to continue strict action against violations across the province. According to the Punjab Police spokesperson, more than 4.843 million driving licences have been issued during 2026, while over 5.83 million traffic challans carrying fines of more than Rs11.16 billion have been issued. Police also challaned 45,881 smoke-emitting vehicles, impounded 6,871 vehicles and seized the fitness certificates of 28 vehicles. The IG ordered continued action against overspeeding, overloading, underage driving and one-way violations. He also directed officials to recover unpaid traffic fines and ensure implementation of amended traffic rules and modern enforcement systems.
