Lahore: Chief Minister Punjab Maryam Nawaz Sharif chaired a meeting of the Punjab Saaf Pani Authority and ordered officials to submit a complete clean drinking water plan for the province within five days. She directed the repair and regular maintenance of 5,734 water filtration plants and asked officials to install more plants where needed. Each filtration and RO plant will display its ID, operator’s name, phone number and working hours. RO plants are systems that remove salts and impurities from water. The authority will be reorganised, provided with more staff, vehicles and modern equipment, and expanded to every district and tehsil. Officials said mobile water plants are already serving more than 2,400 families daily in remote areas. No budget or final completion date was announced.
