Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Launches 77 Electric Buses in Seven Districts

Lahore: Chief Minister Punjab Maryam Nawaz Sharif inaugurated 77 electric buses on 17 routes in Gujrat, Narowal, Nankana Sahib, Vehari, Lodhran, Sheikhupura and Kasur. Each district has received 11 buses. The fare has been fixed at Rs20 for regular passengers, while women, students, senior citizens and persons with disabilities can travel free of charge. The buses include air conditioning, Wi-Fi, security cameras, mobile charging points and wheelchair ramps. According to an official Punjab government handout, 588 electric buses are now operating across 36 districts. Another 101 buses have reached nine districts, while 488 more are expected to arrive by the end of August 2026. The government also plans to extend the service to every tehsil of Punjab.
