Punjab marks Firefighters Day, vows strict fire safety enforcement

Ali Raza Wajid: Lahore: Provincial Health and Emergency Services Minister Khawaja Salman Rafique attended the International Firefighters Day 2026 ceremony at Rescue Headquarters as chief guest. Officials paid tribute to fallen rescuers and highlighted that emergency services have saved citizens from losses worth Rs786 billion through timely operations. The minister praised rescuers for their dedication and announced strict enforcement of fire safety SOPs in commercial buildings, warning of legal action against violations. He also emphasized improvements in rescue services, including the role of air ambulance operations in saving lives. This development under the Governance & Policy Cluster reflects a strong focus on public safety and emergency preparedness. For Lahore and Punjab, stricter fire safety measures can improve urban safety standards.
