Punjab Launches Comprehensive Drainage Cleaning Plan to Enhance Sewerage Network

Muzamil Awan: Lahore: In a significant move to improve urban infrastructure, Punjab has launched a large-scale plan to clean drains and canals across the province. The cleaning campaign will run from May 1 to June 15, with 41 district-level WASA agencies simultaneously conducting de-silting operations in their respective areas. This initiative, directed by the Secretary of Housing under the guidance of the Chief Minister of Punjab, aims to enhance the capacity of the sewage network. The campaign will be carried out in collaboration with the Metropolitan and Municipal Corporations and will involve extensive coordination with other agencies. Officials have been instructed to ensure the timely completion of the task, with performance evaluations based on the campaign’s success. The initiative is expected to play a vital role in improving urban cleanliness and environmental protection before the monsoon season begins.
