Punjab Ends Free Travel on Metro, Orange, Speedo & Electric Buses

The Punjab government has decided to end free travel on Metro, Orange Line, Speedo, and Electric buses effective tomorrow. Approximately 800,000 daily commuters had been benefiting from the complimentary travel facility introduced under the public relief package in April 2026. According to the Punjab Mass Transit Authority, ticketing systems will be restored in Lahore, Rawalpindi, and Multan, requiring passengers to pay fares. Authorities said this step is part of fiscal adjustments while ensuring public transport continues smoothly. Commuters are advised to plan travel accordingly and adhere to new fare policies.
