Lahore: Punjab has doubled its interest-free housing-loan target for the current financial year after receiving a record number of applications under the Apni Chhat Apna Ghar programme. At an August 31 meeting chaired by Housing and Urban Development Minister Bilal Yasin, officials reported that more than Rs243 billion in interest-free loans have been provided in a relatively short period.
The briefing said the number of approved loans has crossed 200,000, while 114,237 houses were reported completed and another 45,254 under construction. The minister ordered immediate release of pending payments and warned that complaints involving unnecessary delays in loan disbursement should be addressed quickly.
