Punjab brings modern heart treatment closer to patients

Lahore: Punjab has highlighted the expansion of cardiac services on International Day for Interventional Cardiology, including the recently opened Jinnah Institute of Cardiology and the phased establishment of catheterisation laboratories in different districts. The 250-bed institute, located near Jinnah Hospital in Lahore, offers specialised facilities including catheterisation, intensive care, diagnostic imaging and cardiac surgery services. According to Radio Pakistan, district cath labs are also being developed to provide angiography, angioplasty and primary PCI treatment closer to patients. Facilities in Jhelum, Jhang, Mianwali and Vehari were among those reported ready or moving towards operation, while additional districts are included in later phases. The rollout remains ongoing and should not be treated as completed across Punjab.
