Punjab Auqaf Digitisation Nears Completion, Land Crackdown Planned

A high-level meeting chaired by Punjab Minister for Auqaf and Religious Affairs Chaudhry Shafay Hussain reviewed progress on the digitisation of the Auqaf Department, recovery of illegally occupied land, online monitoring of major shrines and related reforms.

Officials informed the meeting that the department’s digitisation process is in its final stages and is expected to be completed within two weeks, with a formal launch planned for the first week of August. Mapping and geo-tagging of all agricultural and commercial Auqaf land has also been completed, while rent collection for these properties will be shifted to an online system.

The department has prepared an action plan to recover thousands of acres of Auqaf land from illegal occupants. A major crackdown is expected to begin soon, while reclaimed land will be considered for agricultural use. A central command and control centre has also been established, and 15 major shrines will initially be monitored through the system.
