Punjab: The government has announced a Rs3.97 billion preservation plan for the historic site of Taxila, one of Pakistan’s most significant archaeological locations and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Officials stated that the project will focus on restoration, protective infrastructure, visitor management and research facilities to safeguard ancient ruins. Taxila holds remains from Buddhist, Greek and Gandhara civilizations, making it a major attraction for tourists, scholars and historians. Authorities highlighted that the initiative aims to counter damage caused by weather, pollution and urban pressure. Experts believe that improved conservation will boost tourism, strengthen cultural heritage protection and serve as a model for preserving other historical sites across the country.
