Punjab announces early Eid salaries

Ali Raza Wajid : Lahore: The Punjab government has announced advance payment of May salaries and pensions for government employees and pensioners ahead of Eidul Azha. According to the Finance Department’s notification, salaries and pensions will be released on May 21, while all relevant departments have been directed to ensure immediate implementation. The State Bank and commercial banks have also been instructed to process the payments on time. The decision matters because early salary disbursement can improve household purchasing power before Eid, supporting retail markets, transport, food, livestock, and small business activity. It may also create short-term liquidity in local economies, indirectly benefiting rental markets, commercial areas, and real estate-linked spending. Will this early payment boost Eid-related economic confidence?
