Punjab accelerates mini dams and recharge wells under “Safe Water, Safe Punjab” vision

Lahore: Under Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif’s “Safe Water, Safe Punjab” vision, the Punjab government is accelerating work on mini dams, groundwater recharge wells, and modern irrigation projects. The initiative aims to conserve water, improve its efficient use, restore underground reserves, and meet the province’s future water needs. Officials say these projects can reduce water wastage, strengthen agricultural productivity, improve rainwater management, and provide long-term protection against water scarcity. The programme is being presented not only as a water conservation effort but as a foundation for the environmental and economic security of future generations.
