Islamabad: Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif met Chinese Ambassador to Pakistan Jiang Zaidong at the Prime Minister House and reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to its all-weather strategic cooperative partnership with China. The prime minister conveyed goodwill and best wishes to Chinese President Xi Jinping and Premier Li Qiang, while recalling his visit to China in May 2026.
Shehbaz Sharif said both countries would continue close coordination to implement agreements and decisions reached between their leaderships so that the people of Pakistan and China could benefit from stronger bilateral cooperation. The meeting also covered regional developments in the Middle East, Afghanistan and South Asia.
Ambassador Jiang Zaidong said China regarded Pakistan as an “iron brother” and would continue supporting Pakistan’s sovereignty, territorial integrity and socioeconomic development. Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar, Planning Minister Ahsan Iqbal, Adviser Dr Syed Tauqir Shah and Foreign Secretary Amna Baloch also attended the meeting.
