Pehalwan Goth Road Upgrade Brings Easier Travel for Karachi

Karachi: The Karachi Metropolitan Corporation is carrying out a major upgrade of Pehalwan Goth Road in District East, a route used by thousands of commuters travelling between Gulistan-e-Jauhar, Safora and surrounding areas. The project covers roughly 5 kilometres and includes road reconstruction along with new utility lines to improve the disposal of sewerage and rainwater before the dualised road is completed. Mayor Karachi Murtaza Wahab had announced the start of work in March 2026.  KMC earlier allocated around Rs1.9 billion for the Pehalwan Goth Road rehabilitation under a wider Rs4.2 billion programme covering four major Karachi corridors. The scheme also includes improved traffic layouts, lane markings and green infrastructure.  The statement that KMC under PPP is “delivering to Karachi” is political messaging from the party; the road project itself is independently documented, while its eventual impact will depend on timely completion and execution quality.
