The Met Office says monsoon currents are moving into the upper parts of Pakistan, while a westerly weather system is expected to arrive from August 31 and remain active until around September 5. Rain, strong winds and thunderstorms, including isolated heavy rainfall, are expected in parts of Kashmir, Islamabad, Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. Gilgit-Baltistan may also experience rain and thunderstorms between August 30 and September 6, with intermittent breaks. Islamabad and several areas of upper Punjab, including Rawalpindi, Murree, Lahore, Sialkot, Gujranwala and Gujrat, are expected to receive rain mainly from August 29 to September 5. Faisalabad, Sargodha, Sahiwal and surrounding areas may see rainfall from September 1 to 5. Meanwhile, most parts of Sindh and Balochistan are expected to remain hot and humid.
