Old Bird Market Becomes Parking as Bhatti Chowk Underpass Opens to Traffic

Lahore: A major transformation around Data Darbar and Bhatti Chowk is becoming visible as the newly built Bhatti Chowk Underpass has opened to traffic and the former bird-market site has been developed into a parking facility. Punjab government-linked reporting confirmed the underpass opened in August after roughly four months of construction, easing movement through one of Lahore’s busiest inner-city corridors.

The parking facility at the former Parinda Market site had already reached the newly constructed stage by July, when Punjab Auqaf officials inspected it along with other Data Darbar improvements.

The wider revamp also includes pedestrian areas, landscaping, road improvements, signage and other public facilities around the historic shrine.
