Malik Riaz asks authorities to stop Bahria Town property auctions

Islamabad: Bahria Town founder Malik Riaz Hussain has urged the authorities to suspend further auctions, transfers and possession proceedings involving the company’s properties until the underlying legal disputes are resolved. According to a statement reported by Jang and other media, Riaz claimed that restrictions on development work and action against Bahria Town’s assets were threatening the savings and livelihoods of people connected with its housing projects. He called for a resolution based on law and humanitarian considerations and objected to what he described as properties being auctioned below their value. These assertions represent Riaz’s position and have not been independently established. The dispute follows enforcement action and asset auctions linked to proceedings by the National Accountability Bureau. Bahria Town previously requested an independent review of the auction process, while maintaining that any legally established liabilities should be resolved through due process.
