Islamabad: The Margalla Enclave Underpass on Park Road has opened to traffic, with fresh footage on September 18 showing vehicles using the newly built passage. Multiple current reports confirm traffic movement through the underpass, although a detailed fresh opening advisory from CDA or Islamabad Traffic Police was not identified during this check.
The underpass forms the first phase of the wider Rs10 billion Park Road infrastructure project. In June, Minister of State for Interior Muhammad Talal Chaudhry told the Senate that the scheme includes the underpass, an overhead structure, service roads and other road improvements designed to improve connectivity between Park Road, Margalla Avenue and adjoining areas.
Construction activity began earlier in 2026, while Islamabad Traffic Police issued diversions in February because of work around Margalla Enclave. The underpass had originally been expected to be completed in July, but that target passed before the route finally began carrying traffic in September.
The new passage is expected to ease movement toward nearby residential areas including DHA Margalla Enclave, Park View City and Bahria Enclave. However, the opening of the underpass should not be confused with completion of every component of the wider Park Road infrastructure package.
