Lahore: Lahore’s Route 47 was introduced as a flagship urban infrastructure project with plans to integrate a solar energy system capable of generating electricity for public use. However, according to publicly available reports, the renewable energy component has not yet been installed, and the project has not produced any electricity since its launch. Officials indicate that technical planning, procurement procedures and regulatory approvals are still underway before the solar generation system can be implemented. While the road itself is operational, the renewable energy feature remains pending. If completed, the initiative could contribute to cleaner urban infrastructure, reduce reliance on conventional power sources and support Pakistan’s long-term renewable energy and sustainability objectives.
