Lahore removes Liberty kite board as Punjab-wide monsoon safety audit begins

Lahore: Authorities have removed the large kite-shaped board installed at Liberty Roundabout during the Basant season after concerns that strong winds could turn it into a public safety hazard. Officials say the removal has been completed as the first step in a wider safety audit ordered by the DG PHA across Lahore and the rest of Punjab. Under the audit, boards placed on buildings, ground structures, and public sites will be checked for structural strength and reinforced where necessary before monsoon weather intensifies. Officials fear that loose structures during storms can damage vehicles, buildings, and pedestrians. Can this pre-monsoon safety drive help prevent avoidable urban accidents and protect public spaces?
