Lahore: Rain continued since morning in parts of Lahore, leaving streets, main roads, and residential lanes submerged even after the rainfall stopped. Residents said the standing water has turned streets into ponds and has started entering homes, creating fears of damage to household belongings. The situation has also disrupted daily movement, as motorcycles, cars, and heavy traffic are struggling to pass through waterlogged roads, with some vehicles reportedly stalling. Locals say this problem returns whenever it rains and have urged WASA to remain on high alert during the monsoon season and improve drainage operations for quicker water disposal. Can better drainage planning protect Lahore’s neighborhoods from repeated urban flooding?
