Lahore expands deep cleaning and drain desilting drive to prevent monsoon flooding

Lahore: District administration has expanded its deep cleaning and drain desilting campaign across the city to improve drainage before monsoon rains intensify. Deputy Commissioner Captain (R) Muhammad Ali Ijaz personally monitored the operation during a field visit to Model Town Tehsil, where he inspected Kharak Drain and cleanliness arrangements near Fazal Haq Road, Moon Market. Officials briefed him on drain cleaning, sludge removal, staff deployment, and field machinery. The DC directed WASA to submit a drain clearance report and warned that negligence in desilting or drainage operations will not be tolerated. Timely cleaning can reduce urban flooding risks, protect roads, support businesses, and improve nearby residential conditions. Can stronger field monitoring keep Lahore safer during monsoon?
