Lahore: The Punjab Environment Protection Department has intensified its anti-smog gun operations across Lahore, deploying water-spraying machinery at locations identified through air pollution monitoring and on-ground inspections.
According to the department, the operation is being conducted under the supervision of Director General Environment Abdullah Nayyar Sheikh, following directions from Punjab Senior Minister Marriyum Aurangzeb. Field teams are monitoring pollution readings across the city and relocating anti-smog guns according to local conditions.
Priority is being given to areas with elevated concentrations of PM10, a category of airborne particulate matter that includes dust particles. The machinery sprays fine water droplets to help suppress dust and reduce its movement through the surrounding air.
The campaign has covered several locations in Lahore, including Gulberg, Muslim Town, Jail Road, Shahdara and other busy urban areas. Officials say deployment will continue according to pollution readings and field requirements. However, the department has not published independently verified citywide pollution reductions resulting specifically from these machines.
