Karachi: The KMC Sports Complex in Landhi has been restored and reopened after nearly three decades, bringing modern sports and recreational facilities back for residents of Landhi and surrounding areas. Karachi Mayor Barrister Murtaza Wahab formally inaugurated the renovated complex in August 2026.
The revival took place in stages. The complex’s swimming pool was brought back into operation in April 2026, while the renovated sports complex was formally inaugurated in August after refurbishment.
Facilities reported at the complex include a swimming pool, tennis, badminton, basketball, volleyball, table tennis, squash, snooker, chess, carrom and martial arts. The aim is to provide young people in Landhi, Korangi and nearby areas with sports and training opportunities closer to home.
The complex has a long history: reporting from 2019 showed that the project had originally been initiated in 1991 and remained non-functional for years despite much of the physical infrastructure being completed.
