Karachi Mayor Murtaza Wahab Announces 35 MGD Industrial Water Park

Karachi: Mayor Karachi Murtaza Wahab has announced that Pakistan’s first Industrial Water Park is being developed at the TP-1 sewage treatment plant near Karachi’s SITE area. The first part of the project is designed to clean 35 million gallons of sewage water every day. This treated water can then be supplied to factories instead of allowing untreated wastewater to flow into the sea. Wahab said another 65 million gallons of daily treatment capacity is planned by December 2026, which would take the total capacity to 100 million gallons per day. The mayor’s latest statement describes the 35 MGD facility as nearing operation; therefore, it should not yet be presented as formally inaugurated unless a separate opening announcement is issued.
