Karachi: The Karachi Water and Sewerage Corporation (KWSC) has initiated a special emergency plan to ensure uninterrupted water supply and drainage services during Muharram-ul-Haram and Ashura. The initiative, approved under the directives of Karachi Mayor Barrister Murtaza Wahab and KWSC CEO Ahmed Ali Siddiqui, places officials on high alert while completing pre-event maintenance such as sewer line cleaning, manhole repairs, and upkeep around mosques, imambargahs, and procession routes. Hydrants and field teams will remain active to manage emergencies and ensure smooth arrangements throughout the city during religious gatherings. Authorities say the plan aims to protect public health, prevent water disruptions, and maintain sanitation standards for millions of residents and visitors. Can proactive water management enhance safety and convenience during Muharram in Karachi?
