The Islamabad Model Jail project has finally been completed after remaining delayed for 17 years. Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi and Minister of State for Interior Talal Chaudhry visited the newly completed facility. Mohsin Naqvi inspected the jail hospital, kitchen, dining hall, barracks and visitors’ waiting area. The first phase will accommodate around 1,500 prisoners currently linked to cases in Islamabad. The facility includes modern security, prisoner identification and visitor management systems. Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif is expected to formally inaugurate the jail before prisoners are transferred there.
