Islamabad: Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif has reportedly directed authorities to examine converting selected government buildings into hotels to address the capital’s shortage of international-standard accommodation for major events. Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif is Pakistan’s current prime minister, according to the Prime Minister’s Office. The first proposal under consideration involves converting the Shaheed-e-Millat Building into a five-star hotel, while a three-member ministerial committee comprising the interior, finance and housing portfolios has reportedly been tasked with reviewing the plan. The building covers around 4,400 square yards and is said to have capacity for approximately 128 rooms, including the possibility of 64 luxury suites. Consultations are still underway, meaning the hotel conversion has not yet been confirmed as a completed or construction-stage project.
