Islamabad: The federal government has informed the National Assembly that work is underway on a new M-10 motorway designed to provide a direct connection between Karachi and Hyderabad. Federal Parliamentary Secretary for Communications Gul Asghar Khan said the feasibility study has been completed and the government is working on a route that would bypass the existing corridor, while the M-9 will continue to serve as an expressway. The broader Karachi-Hyderabad motorway project has been divided into five sections of roughly 50 kilometres each to attract investment, with total financing needs estimated at more than $400 million. Three sections have reportedly secured financing arrangements, including support from the Islamic Development Bank, while FWO has shown interest in two sections. The government expects all five sections to be completed by 2028.
