Free travel drives record ridership across Punjab transport

Punjab: The free travel initiative under the Punjab Mass Transit Authority has achieved record ridership, with over 5 million passengers benefiting in just five days. Officials stated that on April 8 alone, a record 1.14 million passengers used free transport services. Metro Bus, Orange Line Train, Speedo buses and electric buses witnessed exceptional public response. Authorities highlighted that Orange Line served over 1.5 million passengers, while Metro Bus, Speedo and electric buses across Lahore, Rawalpindi and Multan also saw significant usage. The government has directed officials to enhance facilities and address passenger complaints, while additional buses have been deployed in multiple cities to manage the increasing demand.
