Dubai: Around 70% of tenants have moved out of Dubai’s famous Toyota Building on Sheikh Zayed Road, following disruptions to electricity supply, according to the building management. The property, officially known as the Nasser Rashid Lootah Building, is scheduled for demolition in 2027, bringing an end to more than five decades as one of Dubai’s best-known residential landmarks. Management told Gulf News that residents were not formally asked to leave and that many moved voluntarily after electricity was disconnected. Tenants with valid rental contracts had earlier been told they could remain until December 2026. However, the reason for the electricity disconnections remains unclear; management attributed them to Dubai Municipality, but the municipality had not responded to Gulf News at the time of publication.
