Dubai Launches Dh2 Billion Road Corridor to Cut Traffic and Halve Travel Times

Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has awarded the contract for the Dh2 billion Latifa bint Hamdan Corridor Development Project, a major 12-kilometre road scheme designed to improve traffic flow and strengthen connectivity across the emirate. The corridor will link six major highways, including Sheikh Zayed Road, Al Khail Road, Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Road and Emirates Road. Once completed by the end of 2028, the project is expected to serve more than 650,000 residents and visitors while accommodating over 130,000 vehicle trips daily. Travel time between Umm Al Sheif Street and Emirates Road is projected to fall from 33 minutes to just 15 minutes, a reduction of around 54%. The project also includes seven bridges, eight tunnels, wider roads and new cycling tracks to support Dubai’s long-term mobility and urban development plans.
