Dubai: Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has completed all works on the Oud Maitha Road and Al Asayel Street Development Project, a major road upgrade designed to improve connections across Oud Maitha, Al Jaddaf, Za’abeel and Umm Hurair. The completion was officially announced on September 20, 2026. RTA
The project delivered 14 kilometres of roads, upgraded four major intersections, and added four bridges and two tunnels with a combined length of 4.3 kilometres. According to RTA, the improvements increase Oud Maitha Road’s capacity from 10,400 to 15,600 vehicles per hour in both directions, an increase of up to 50%. RTA
RTA says average journey time through the affected corridor has dropped from 20 minutes to 5 minutes, representing a 75% time saving. The upgraded network also improves access to areas and facilities including Al Jaddaf, Za’abeel, Umm Hurair, Latifa Hospital and Al Wasl Club. RTA
The authority estimates that areas served by the project could have a combined population exceeding 420,000 by 2030, making the corridor part of Dubai’s wider road-capacity planning for future urban growth.
