Chinese firm to build $15 million battery plant in Faisalabad

Faisalabad: China’s Dongjin Group is planning to establish a $15 million dry battery manufacturing facility in Allama Iqbal Industrial City, a flagship Special Economic Zone developed under CPEC. The investment agreement has been signed with the Punjab Board of Investment and Trade, as Pakistan’s demand for batteries rises due to electric vehicles, solar systems and renewable energy storage. Officials say the project can bring modern technology transfer, create jobs and support allied sectors including electronics, automotive components, packaging, chemicals and engineering services. For real estate and infrastructure, such industrial investment can increase demand for factory space, warehouses, logistics networks and worker housing around Faisalabad. Will this boost Pakistan’s battery manufacturing future?
