Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Backs Punjab Green Economic Zone Plan

Lahore: Chief Minister Punjab Maryam Nawaz Sharif granted in-principle approval to a proposed Green Industrial Economic Zone and directed officials to prepare a comprehensive action plan. The proposal was discussed during a meeting with an Overseas Pakistanis Foundation delegation led by Chairman, Board of Governors, OPF, Syed Qamar Raza. The planned zone would be developed through collaboration between OPF and Green Energy Group, with renewable-energy infrastructure supporting industrial operations. Officials projected that the initiative could create more than 18,000 direct and indirect jobs and generate over Rs5.6 billion in annual revenue. The chief minister also assured local and overseas investors of government facilitation through incentives, faster approvals and a one-window system.
