Chairman NDMA Inam Haider Malik Reviews Punjab Flood Preparedness

Lahore: Chairman National Disaster Management Authority Lieutenant General Inam Haider Malik visited the Provincial Disaster Management Authority Punjab headquarters to review the province’s monsoon and flood preparedness. Punjab Health Minister and Chairman Cabinet Committee on Disaster Management Khawaja Salman Rafique and DG PDMA Punjab Saif Anwar Jappa received the NDMA delegation. During a meeting at the Provincial Emergency Control Centre, officials discussed flood conditions, climate change, capacity building, resource management and coordination among emergency departments. The Punjab government said Rescue 1122 had been equipped with modern response equipment, while new emergency warehouses were being established in different cities. Officials also briefed the delegation on continuous river monitoring, underground water-storage tanks for urban flooding and improved machinery for WASA operations.
