CDA Unveils Rs12 Billion Plan for New International Cricket Stadium in Islamabad

The Capital Development Authority (CDA) has finalized plans for a state-of-the-art international cricket stadium in Islamabad, with an estimated cost of Rs12 billion. Inspired by world-class venues such as the Dubai International Stadium, the project will be located near Sector D-12 at the base of the Margalla Hills, providing a scenic natural backdrop. The stadium will feature a 25,000-seat capacity, a 148-meter pitch diameter, and a three-tier structure including general seating, VIP and premium stands, and shaded upper-tier areas.A major highlight is the proposed Ring of Fire LED lighting system, similar to Dubai’s, offering uniform illumination without traditional floodlight towers. CDA is also evaluating modern roofing options, including tensile structures, semi-transparent polycarbonate roofs, and retractable systems.Once completed, the stadium is expected to become a landmark sports facility, enhancing Islamabad’s ability to host major international cricket events.
