Al Ain: Al Ain City Municipality has completed a 14-kilometre green barrier along Tahnoun bin Mohammed Road, planting 1,807 ghaf trees to help reduce drifting sand and improve safety for motorists and nearby communities. According to project details carried by Gulf News, the natural windbreak is designed to slow wind speeds, limit sand movement and support native vegetation along the corridor. Technical studies cited by project manager Al Yazia Rashid Al Neyadi indicate the barrier could reduce sand encroachment in areas behind it by 70% to 90%, depending on vegetation density and wind direction. The project also uses a high-efficiency irrigation system and may help reduce noise levels while supporting environmental sustainability.
