Rs2.5bn Data Darbar Extension Project Launched in Lahore

A major urban uplift initiative titled the Data Darbar Extension Project has been launched in Lahore to enhance the spiritual environment and urban infrastructure around Data Darbar. The Rs2.5 billion project includes remodeling of Bhati Chowk, restoration of roads from Data Darbar to Azadi Chowk, wagon stand reorganization, pavement works, and installation of modern lighting. According to Project Director Zahir Abbas, the plan focuses on improving facilities for visitors, upgrading seating areas, and comprehensive rehabilitation of the surrounding locality. Encroachments and temporary structures around the shrine are being removed as part of the facelift. The project is expected to be completed within six months and is being implemented under the vision of Maryam Nawaz to preserve Lahore’s cultural identity while improving mobility and urban aesthetics.
