The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government is considering launching modern train services on multiple railway routes across the province, including the proposed Kohat–Kharlachi rail link. The decision was taken during a meeting on railway affairs chaired by Sohail Afridi at the K-P House in Islamabad. Officials informed that the Kohat–Kharlachi project involves construction of a 192-kilometer railway line with an estimated cost of $642 million and a targeted completion period of two years. The feasibility study has already been completed, while land acquisition is currently underway. Authorities believe the project will significantly improve passenger connectivity and promote trade and commercial activity in the region. A proposal for a safari train on the Jamrud–Landi Kotal route was also reviewed.
