EU Announces €3 Million Aid for Punjab’s Flood-Hit Communities

The European Union has pledged an additional €3 million in emergency assistance to support communities in Pakistan—particularly Punjab—affected by this year’s destructive monsoon floods. The funding will be provided as direct cash support to help vulnerable households meet urgent needs and begin rebuilding their lives. This commitment follows earlier EU relief efforts, including €1.05 million provided in September for healthcare, clean water, sanitation and other essential services. The floods affected nearly 7 million people, displaced around 2.9 million, and caused over 1,000 deaths while destroying more than 200,000 homes and severely damaging agricultural land. EU Commissioner Hadja Lahbib stressed the urgency of continued support and reaffirmed the EU’s commitment to helping flood-affected families recover.
