Pakistan Railways has launched a Rs. 100 billion rehabilitation plan to upgrade 19 branch lines spanning 2,479 kilometers nationwide. The initiative aims to ensure safer, modern, and efficient rail travel while boosting inter-provincial connectivity. Punjab will receive Rs. 44.4 billion for eight key lines, including Shahdara–Narowal, Raiwind–Kasur–Pakpattan, and Sargodha–Lalamusa. Sindh’s share of Rs. 35.9 billion covers six lines such as Hyderabad–Badin and Kotri–Dadu. Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan will receive Rs. 18 billion combined for several routes. The project includes track upgrades, new signaling systems, digital ticketing, and modern coaches.
