Islamabad: FBR Member (Strategic Transformation) Dr. Hamid Ateeq Sarwar told a Senate Finance Committee subcommittee that the government is considering further reductions in the tax burden on businesses, including possible additional relief in super tax and sales tax. FBR officials said the tax collected on export proceeds has already been reduced from 2 per cent to 1.25 per cent, a reduction also reflected in the federal government’s 2026–27 tax measures. Officials told the committee that around Rs361 billion in tax relief had been provided since 2025, including relief for salaried taxpayers and changes to super tax. Exporter facilitation committees have also been established in six major cities to address tax-related concerns.
