Lahore: The Punjab government has assigned formal responsibilities to district officers for Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif’s Model Village Programme. District Officers Infrastructure and Services have been designated as district coordinators to supervise development schemes and strengthen local monitoring. The directions were issued during a video-link meeting chaired by Local Government Minister Zeeshan Rafique, attended by senior departmental officials. Sub-engineers will also receive additional coordination responsibilities at tehsil level, while the Punjab Rural Municipal Services Company will oversee progress at divisional and provincial levels. The programme aims to transform 485 villages across Punjab’s 10 divisions through master planning, improved infrastructure and strict monitoring of construction quality and timelines.
