Gujranwala steps up monsoon preparedness, DC orders urgent measures

Gujranwala: Deputy Commissioner Naveed Ahmed chaired an important meeting to review pre-monsoon arrangements following special directives from Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif. Officials from WASA, Rescue 1122, Irrigation and municipal departments attended the session. Authorities were directed to ensure immediate desilting of drainage and sewerage channels, repair of open drains and installation of safety slabs. Strengthening and repair of protective embankments along Chenab River and rainwater drains in Wazirabad and Kamoke were also ordered. Officials emphasized timely completion of all preventive measures and submission of compliance reports. Experts believe that effective pre-monsoon planning can significantly reduce urban flooding risks and ensure public safety.
