Punjab strengthens digital planning, PSPA reviews future targets

Lahore: A high-level meeting of the Punjab Special Spatial Planning Authority (PSPA) was held under the chairmanship of Local Government Minister Zeeshan Rafiq at the Civil Secretariat. Officials including Secretary Local Government Shakeel Ahmed Mian and DG PSPA Abdullah Nayyer attended the session. Authorities discussed administrative matters and future targets, highlighting that PSPA is playing a key role in master planning, model villages and the Punjab Development Programme. Officials stated that a reliable database has been developed, while steps are underway to activate a violation detection system for improved monitoring across the province. The minister emphasized that housing scheme approvals have been shifted to a fully digital system, linked with the Punjab government’s e-Biz portal. Experts believe these reforms will enhance transparency, discourage illegal construction and support planned urban development.
